The role of NGOs in developing countries witnessed a remarkable evolution through the years. From mere money collectors, NGOs grew to become large multinational institutions struggling for the application of human rights all over the world. NGOs improved as well their techniques of intervention and their methods of work, in order to have efficient actions.

Today however, the role of NGOs in developing countries is questionable: can we consider the work of NGOs as the natural result of the do-nothing policies of governments? Is the increasing influence of NGOs a threat to governments’ sovereignty?

To these and other questions will the audience answer on the 12th and 13th of February, during the International Conference on the Role of NGOs in Global Governance. The debate will be attended by internationally-renowned figures, such as Mr Brahimi Lakhdar, the UN former Special Adviser to the Secretary-General, Pascal Boniface, Director of the Institute for International and Strategic Relations; and Henri Rouillé d’Orfeuil, Chairman of “Coordination SUD”.
