What is the role of NGOs in international policy making? To what extent can NGOs shape international policy making?

These questions are often asked by analysts and experts of the UN and of the work of NGOs. Beyond these questions are the concerns raised by some countries with regard to the growing influence of NGOs, mostly because of the pressure that such organizations may exert on governments.

The International Conference on the Role of NGOs in Global Governance will discuss the role of NGOs in international policy making. The debate will focus basically on the capacities of NGOs to find resolutions in issues generally dealt with by governmental bodies. The conference will be attended by internationally-renowned politicians, economists and activists in the humanitarian field.
