The role of INGOs for development

Conscious of their humanitarian role of money collectors and assistance providers, INGOs for development have widened their scope of intervention and optimized their work methods. Today, several INGOs for development are present in every part of the world, struggling to bring healthcare assistance to local inhabitants, to provide education to children, and to monitor the evolution of democracy.

However, the constant increase in the actions of INGOs for development alerted some analysts and governmental bodies on the role that these INGOs should play. Today, several people claim that INGOs are bypassing their limits and are interfering in matters that are generally dealt with by governments, whereas others argue that the evolution of INGOs role is the corollary to the absence of efficient -if ever existing- governmental intervention.

The International Conference on the Role of NGOs in Global Governance will try to address the problems related to the work of INGOs for development, and will discuss the role of these institutions in the resolution of international conflicts. Several internationally-renowned politicians, economists and activists in the humanitarian field will attend the conference and will exchange their opinions with the audience, in a constructive and insightful debate.
