Today, the work of NGOs is seen by many people as being a bulwark for democratic global governance. The extreme activeness of NGOs, coupled with their flexible work methods and their determination to bring concrete results, led to the establishment of international treaties and conventions for the protection of human rights and for the furtherance of democratic global governance.
Handicap International is hosting the International Conference on the Role of NGOs in Global Governance on the 12th and 13th of February. This conference will debate on the influence of NGOs in democratic global governance and will try to provide answers to the following questions:
- Can NGOs have influence on governments’ decisions?
- Can we consider the actions of NGOs as a corollary to the inaction of governments?
- To what extent can NGOs influence the emergence of new rules and rights in international law?
Contact us or join us in the International Conference on the Role of NGOs in Global Governance for further comprehensive details on the actions of NGOs to preserve and enhance democratic global governance.
